Welcome to Hester farm and the Brun family!
The farm is located on the border between Östergötland and Småland and has ancient origins. It is first mentioned in the land register from 1535. There have been many different owners of the farm through the ages. The farm has also been an inn.
Research on the farm's history shows that it is incredibly exciting to tell, not least well - known visitors such as Carl von Linné, Charles XI and Queen Desideria. Equally exciting are the people who emerge from history through court records and house interrogation lengths.
The old inn does not exist but a wing building that was used as a tavern from 1767. We have renovated that house in the spirit of the times and use it as a café.
In the yard there are several interesting buildings with housed museums. A smithy, carpentry museum and a wagon museum.
Today, forestry is conducted on the farm with, among other things. cultivation of Masurian birch. There are high natural values with i.a. a habitat of Drumgräshoppa. Approx. 9 ha have biotope protection classified as old-growth forest with the red-listed pine tick and the orchid knotted.
We also use the forest as a resource for our event walks and nature activities.
